The Perfect Treatment For Diabetes And Weight Loss

The Perfect Treatment For Diabetes And Weight Loss

Best Weight Loss Video EVER!  Tweet This!

The 2 Week Diet

What is the perfect treatment that can cure type 2 diabetes (!) and lead to effortless weight loss? Listen to the eloquent Dr. Jason Fung describe it in this 12-minute part of a longer interview.

*** Observe: This treatment is extremely effective. If you have diabetes and take blood sugar lowering medication (especially insulin injections) you may need to reduce the doses a lot to avoid potentially dangerous hypoglycemia. You may instantly become too healthy for your medication. ***

In the full 45 minute interview Dr. Fung goes into more detail about exactly how to add fasting to your low-carb diet, important things to consider and how to avoid potential problems.

The American Diabetes Association announced the findings of the comprehensive Diabetes Prevention Program. The DPP was conducted at over 25 medical centers nationwide and involved thousands of participants who volunteered to have their habits monitored and to follow dietary and exercise recommendations. All participants had been diagnosed with ‘pre-diabetes’, a condition where the blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not yet in diabetic ranges. Untreated, more than half of those people diagnosed with pre-diabetes will develop full-blown type 2 diabetes within a decade.

For the study, the participants were divided into two groups. One half were given dietary recommendations. The other half got the same dietary recommendations, plus the recommendation to exercise at least 30 minutes daily, five times a week.

The results? Those who included daily exercise in their routines and followed the diet recommendations cut their risk of developing diabetes by 58%. The reason? Those who made the recommended changes in their lifestyle lost ‘a moderate amount’ of weight. Even more important, researchers found something that they didn’t expect. Those in the treatment group had a substantial chance of reducing their blood sugar level to normal, something that had been assumed was impossible.

Apparently, losing weight not only prevents a worsening of diabetes, it reverses the damage that obesity causes to the cells that produce insulin.

How much weight loss does it take to have an effect on the progression of diabetes? The key is in the definition of ‘a moderate weight loss’ – 5-7% of your body weight. In other words, depending on your boy weight, a loss of as little as 7-10 pounds can make a difference!

The recommendations suggested by the American Diabetes Society for a healthy diet to prevent diabetes is an ideal diet for steady, gradual weight loss – the kind of weight loss that stays lost. The diet includes the following suggested daily diet allowances:

* Grain – 6-11 servings per day (Bread, Cereal, Rice, Pasta)
* Vegetables – 3-5 servings per day
* Fruits – 2-4 servings per day
* Milk – 2-3 servings per day
* Meat – 4-6 ounces per day (Meat, eggs, fish, dried beans, nuts and peanut butter)
* Fats, Sweets, Alcohol – Occasional treats

(Recommendations for portions are based on gender and activity level. For instance, a sedentary 40 year old woman needs fewer portions than an active 25-year-old woman.)

Look familiar? It’s also the dietary recommendation for the Heart Healthy diet from the American Heart Association, and the recommendations from the USDA’s new MyPyramid. The results just keep coming in, but the message is clear: losing weight, maintaining a healthy weight and eating a balanced diet can help prevent most major health problems. Why wait till you’re diagnosed? Start today – and it may never happen.

    Insulin resistance, according to very recent studies is caused by insulin being unable to work due to fats blocking them.

    Guys I was on keto for 3 months then I relapsed. Planning to start Keto again. It works, when I relapsed I have to start meds again. When I was on Keto, I was off meds. 16/8 is good but add it with keto, it will change your life, no more diabetic complications better health, feel younger, safe money on meds especially in countries where there is no social welfare for meds, loss weight and best of all its virtually free (well your diet is a bit more expensive, but the meds are more expensive).

    My a1c was 9.4 just 8 months later 5.4 and lost 35 pounds. Blood pressure was high, now normal. Lipid panel across the board got noticeably better. Sugar and carbs are the devil. I beat it with Keto so can you.

    I love doctor Fung! He was the first doctor that I heard say something to fact…Don’t blame the patient for being lazy and overeating as many doctors do when it’s actually the food which is causing them to be addicted to sugar and overweight. I have learned, so much from him, and I am on the path to a healthier me!

    Sir, if we diabetics should eat much more fat, limited carb, and small to moderate protein., then we did do it to ourselves , caused our own type II by eating too much carbs, etc. There might be a genetic portion, however, if it can be reversed by eating a different way, we could been eating a different way going way back in time. So, it is our fault we have type II..right?

    In India, we do a 9 days fast, twice an year (Navratri) where we don’t eat any grains, white salt. Though in cities, people eat other foods like potato, fruits, but in villages, many keep a 9 days water fast only and the numbers are 100 millions plus 🙂

    Several months ago I was diagnosed with diabetes at the age of 64. I can’t believe that sI have diabetes and it cares me that I will also experience the same struggles like my dad did. Thankfully, I was able to get my hands on this info “fizo amazing plan” (Google it). My A1C was 7.3 and blood sugar was at 183 when tested and after a week of reading through the plan diligently, the A1C is now at 5.9.

    My 75 year old dad no longer has meds for diabetes . He lost weight eats healthy and takes regular  exercise. I have insulin resistance and I’m very slender. I have to reduce carbs and eat 3 small meals a day.  If I eat a carb heavy meal I sleep for hours and I am not in any way a devotee to health food fads.

    Been on keto for over a month now and have only lost two lbs. I fasted a long, long time ago. I remember the first day, day and a half I was a little hungry, but that would leave me. When I got towards the end of the fast, day 6-7 I stared to feel weak. I’m type two diabetic now and it’s been awhile taking my blood sugar. My sugars yesterday was 127 when I checked it after 1.5 hours after eating a very large salad. Not bad by a lot of standards, but disappointing to me. I think I’m going to have to give fasting a try again. 😘
